What's that I see there on the floor?
Could it be a kitten?
His name de guerre is Murphy
But he's got more names than that
Murpherwurphicus that is rather huge
But the softest is his fur
His meow is somewhat prissy
But he has a manly purr.
He came from a local shelter
For months there did he live
But he was large and healthy
With so much love to give
He nibbles on my nose and ears
But never gives a chomp
He even nibbles on my chin
Then runs off for a romp
Murphy-wurphy got his name
After he proved his worth
His name was Mr. Pennywig
But he was always saying "Murph!"
He cuddles deep into my lap
When I sit and read
He jumps onto the counter
When it's time to feed
He drinks water from the tap
In the bathroom sink
When you look into his eyes
You can see him think
He looks into the mirror
And sees another cat
He scratches and meows
'Cause he can get through that
He snuggles under the blanket
When the winter comes
He goes into the trashcan
And pulls out discarded gum
He's quite the loving kitty
And that has been the trend
I say with pride to Murphy
You are the greatest friend.
