On THE LOVE OF PETS
I never once have questioned,
The generosity of God,
His gifts to us are so superb,
I frequently am awed.
But sometimes we take for granted,
The most wondrous of His gifts,
And we don't always recognize,
What He's put upon our list.

What do we see in wagging tails,
Or damp noses pressed on panes,
Or feel in wet and sloppy kisses,
Or from catch-or-fetch ballgames?
What do we see in batting paws,
Or hear in contented purrs,
Or see in wide, inquiring eyes,
Or feel in velvet fur?
Help us, God, to know,
The gift of love that comes from pets,
True, free, and unconditional,
Your very best kind yet.

Thank You, God!
