Mutual Admiration

In ancient times I was once worshipped-
And I still expect no less today!

But I don’t need your constant attention -
Just some time when I’m ready to play.

Don’t buy me a jewel-studded collar-
The caress of your hand will be fine.

And I don’t want a fur covered throne-
For I’ll gladly claim your LAP as mine!

Don’t make me a pillow of velvet -
For your pillow I’d much rather share!

I don’t need elaborate grooming -
When you brush me it shows that you care.

My dishes need not be of silver -
I just like my meals served by your hand.

I’m happy in humble surroundings -
Don’t need castles or mansions so grand!

You know that I trust you completely-
One look in my eyes and you’ll see.

For we have a “mutual worship”-
I adore you as you adore me!
