TEETH MARKS IN MY CURTAIN

Who put the teeth marks in my curtain,
Those tiny pin-like holes,
I know I didn't do it,
So, who do you suppose?

And there sits Miss Innocence,
In all her guilt-free glory,
Wide-eyed, as if to say to me,
"Wait now - hear my story."

"The curtain fell into my mouth,
As I passed by last night,
I did what any cat would do,
I opened up and took a bite."

"I thought it was alive, you see,
When it scraped across my back,
I needed to defend myself,
I launched a curtain cat attack."

"A likely story," I thought aloud
"After all, why were you on that sill?
You know that is against the law,
Cats don't do windows - never will."
Again her innocence eked out,
Though she looked with some disdain,
"Why do you always pick on me?
Is there no one else to blame?"

With that, she turned and left the scene,
Her tail straight in the air,
A look of smug complacence then,
I don't think she even cared.

Now, holy curtains hang there,
That I can't begin to mend,
Ever seen a cat gum cat food?
Well, you may soon, my friend...
